🌴 MUSICA TROPICAL 🌴

OBIA (live)

What is Obia? Its the name of Afro-diasporic sorcery & spiritual practices once found in parts the West Indies.

The music tells tales from the Caribbean, their people & folklore, A story of degradation of the spirit, resilience and re- emergence of being.

In the darkest of soils, the most potent of herbs take root.

The writing began on band leader Tristan’s island home of Barbados, drawing influences from his childhood, Obia maps the connections between the Afro-diasporas' shared history & musical forms.

Once meeting Glasgow nu jazz scene stalwarts Norman Vilaroux, Mathew Kilner & Joe Wiseberg combined with Afro-Latin percussionist Ben Vardi, the fertile ground was set to bloom.

ReQuinha (DJ)

One half of Femme45, part of Sound Sistrenz, Radio Buena Vida resident, Shapes Festival resident. ReQuinha is no stranger to getting a dance floor moving. One of my favourite DJ's and long time friend - Expect tropical heaters from start to finish. She'll be warming up the dance before Obia and shelling it after the band finishes
