A regular experimental night in Glasgow that pairs artists from wildly different practices to find out WHAT HAPPENS WHEN they come together to create something new and weird. The event will spotlight different local talents and spread the word about their practice while simultaneously shaking them out of their comfort zone and setting them new collaborative challenges. Scenes will cross over, people will make life long friends, bands will form, arguments will break out, and miracles as yet unthought of will all occur at WHAT HAPPENS WHEN…? No two will be the same.

The second WHAT HAPPENS WHEN..? is a marriage of comedy and tragedy in one night of clowning, music, poetry and comedy. We call it How To Laugh While Crying Profusely.

We explain death to Monkion (the non-human clown creature developed by Maya and Rosa of Hooky Productions) to help them cope with the untimely demise of their beloved pet, Benedict Cumberbatch. Comic poetry by Flora Weideger pokes fun at life’s bleakest realities, easing the pain. We’ll then be taking a trip back in time to Mary Queen of Scots’ court, where her two jesters (embodied by music/comedy duo Phoebe Crawford and Lily Bell Penny) will perform for their lives. This portion is outfitted by local costumiers Phaedra Leigh and Cora Lily Browne. Your host, Dix McDevitt, will take you through the history of clowning women with utmost dignity and grace. You’ll walk away sillier, sadder, and more knowledgeable about clowns than ever…
